Rabbi Yehuda HaNasi

Rabbi Yehuda HaNasi (c. 135–c. 217), leader of the Jewish people in the Land of Israel, was the redactor of the Mishnah, the bedrock of the Oral Law. His wealth and ties to Roman authority are recounted in the Talmud. The date of his hilula rests on tradition.
