Rabbi Levi Yitzchak (1740–1809), a disciple of the Maggid of Mezeritch, is known as the "defender of Israel" for his advocacy prayers on behalf of the Jewish people. His work Kedushat Levi is studied throughout the Hasidic world. He is buried in Berditchev.
