Rabbi Chaim Yosef David Azulai (1724–1806), the Chida, born in Jerusalem, was a prolific halachist, kabbalist and bibliographer, as well as an emissary (shadar) of the Holy Land across Europe. He wrote dozens of works. His remains were reinterred in Jerusalem in 1960.
