Rabbi Moshe Sofer (1762–1839), rabbi of Pressburg (Bratislava), was one of the greatest halachic authorities of his era and a central figure of Orthodoxy in the face of Reform. His responsa (Chatam Sofer) remain authoritative. He is buried in Bratislava.
